In recent memory, I can’t think of a lot of new snus brands that have popped up. Probably, the last one was my Artisan brand in 2022. Since that one went away, we haven’t seen a lot of new ones. This one, however, The Moose, has defied that, and an industry leaning towards tobacco-free products. I extend a heartfelt, and honest thanks, to the folks at Hansa Snus in Sweden for making this line, because it’s nice to see some companies still believing in the snus market.
The Moose is a pretty exciting line, with a lot of different flavors such as mint, cherry, and wintergreen. Today, we have their more “traditional” flavor, The Moose Gotland Classic. This snus is a real trooper, too, and one of those you can use day in and day out. It is described as having a “light tobacco flavour combined with bergamot and a touch of smokiness”. So, if you have yet to experience this one, let’s open and can and jump right into it!

With the can open, you can see the portions are pretty good looking. They are technically a white portion, however some moisture has turned the pouches slightly brown. That doesn’t mean it’s not a white portion, however, which we’ll touch on later. Each can weighs 16 grams and contains 20 portions, weighing 0.8 grams each. The nicotine content is 12mg/g, which breaks down to 9.6mg per portion due to that 0.8 gram pouch weight.
Now, let’s get into this review and talk about this snus!
The aroma coming off the can is pretty traditional in nature. The bergamot comes through pretty clearly, along with slight notes of wood, tobacco, and a touch of pepper. Honestly, in the aroma and flavor, this one reminds me a lot of Oden’s No3, which is a snus I really like.
The portions are nice and plump, with a soft mouthfeel. Though slightly brown, they aren’t super moist, so the flavor has a slower development like you want from a white portion. In the flavor department, it’s traditional, but more complex. The bergamot comes through pretty clearly, along with slight hints of smoke and wood.
The tobacco base is earthy, slightly peppery, and serves as a nice undertone to the flavor profile. In the nicotine strength, it feels to be about the regular level, or maybe just a little above. It has a comfortable, steady delivery to it. The flavor also has a solid amount of longevity to it, lasting up to about an hour, on average!
Snubie’s Final Thoughts
All in all, this is a pretty good snus! It’s a new snus, and no new snus is bad snus, but as this one sits on it’s own it’s pretty solid. It has the traditional snus flavor nailed down quite well, and presents a really good, all day type of flavor profile.
If you enjoy traditional products such as General, Knox, etc, I think you’ll like this one, and the nice twist it has on the flavor profile. So, grab some of the Moose, I think you’ll be quite impressed!
