  • Vårgårda Gryning Review

    Vårgårda Gryning Review

Today, I have a Nordic Snus product on deck to check out. This is Vårgårda Gryning! The name, “gryning” translates to “dawn”, for those curious what it means. I read it as “grinning”, which makes me think of smiling, which snus always does! If you haven’t heard of this one, let me read you the flavor description for it: “A taste of tobacco, plum and wild berries”.

When I first tried it, it reminded me of something I had before, which led me to believe this is a relaunch of a previous limited edition they made. Do you remember LD Signum Ume from 2023? I think this is the same thing as that one, from what I can tell. That one, also, was a relaunch of a flavor I had in 2020 made by Nordic Snus for the Japanese market, ZeroStyle Ume. It’s intriguing to see this flavor profile in snus, that’s for sure. But, if you haven’t had any of those products, it’s cool, I still plan on doing a full review. So, let’s get into it and check this one out

Each can weighs 20 grams and has 20 portions. This means plump, full ONE GRAM portions! That is exciting to me, because you don’t see that anymore! The nicotine content is 10mg/g, and with 1 gram portions that’s easy to calculate at 10mg per portion. That means these are going to be around the regular strength level.

When I open up the can, I notice that unmistakable “ume” aroma. This one has a plum wine scent to it, along with a light touch of menthol. It’s kinda sweet, kinda sour, kinda tart. In essence, it’s a dark berry, but with some tart and some menthol to it. The portions themselves are really nice. They’re plump, with moist tobacco, and a soft pouch material. They feel quite good under the lip, and yield a little cooling sensation against the gum, perhaps due to the menthol in this one.

The flavor is much like the aroma: a nice Ume inspired flavor with hints of menthol. The dark berry presence is tart, semi-sour, with a faint touch of sweetness. There is a little menthol in the mix which adds a gentle cooling sensation to the flavor profile. It’s certainly a unique one, that’s for sure! In the nicotine department, it feels to be right at the regular level, with a steady and stable delivery. The flavor also lasts quite a while, up to about an hour, on average!

    Snubie’s Final Thoughts

All in all, a pretty good snus! Now, this isn’t something I’d use all the time, but it’s a fun one to mix up the rotation a bit. If you like the flavor of plum wine, you’ll enjoy this one. The berry/menthol taste is a unique one in the snus market, so I think folks like myself who like those unique, off-beat, interesting flavor profiles are going to find themselves enjoying this one!

  • The Moose West Coast Classic Review

The Moose West Coast Classic Review

One of the most popular flavors of snus is juniper. Göteborgs Rapé, a snus with this flavor, is amongst one of the most popular snus products on the market today. As someone who has reviewed snus for 15 years, it’s always led me to wonder why there aren’t more juniper flavored products out there.

General, a traditional/bergamot snus is very popular, and almost every manufacturer makes a traditional/bergamot snus. But, why not juniper? It’s been a mystery over the years, that’s for sure. The new Moose line, however, has taken up the challenge. Today, we have their West Coast Classic snus on hand which is, yes, a snus with a juniper taste!

The flavor for this one says it is a “classic Swedish tobacco snus flavored with juniper and lightly sweetened in a white portion”. The can, in total weighs 16 grams and has 20 portions. This means each portion will weigh 0.8 grams. The nicotine strength sits at 12mg/g, which breaks down to 9.6mg/portion. This puts it just above the regular strength level, but not quite to the strong level.

The aroma of this one is a pretty interesting, straightforward juniper aroma. It’s quite simple in presence, and sits on top of a mellow tobacco base. The portions are nice and plump, semi-moist, and moderately soft in feeling. Under the lip, they fill out the lip really well, and have a slow release of flavor. The taste is pretty mellow. It’s juniper, pure and simple. I don’t pick up a lot else, just a juniper taste with a mild tobacco base.

It’s not overly complicated, and comes across in a mellow way. It reminds me a lot of Kapten’s old juniper snus, which I really enjoyed. It’s a trooper, one you can use all day long and not burn out on. In the nicotine strength, it feels about the regular level, and has a steady delivery to it. The flavor has some legs, and lasts well up to an hour!

    Snubie’s Final Thoughts

There aren’t a lot of juniper snus products out there. If you want to stretch your legs and try out other juniper flavors, your options are quite limited. So, it was pretty neat that the new Moose line tried to fill that hole and put out something different.

If you like GR, you will find this one to be more simple. If you like Knox Blue, you’ll find this one to be less floral. If you like simple, direct juniper flavors, I think you’ll be pleased, as it’s really good!

  • The Moose Gotland Classic White Review

The Moose Gotland Classic White Review

In recent memory, I can’t think of a lot of new snus brands that have popped up. Probably, the last one was my Artisan brand in 2022. Since that one went away, we haven’t seen a lot of new ones. This one, however, The Moose, has defied that, and an industry leaning towards tobacco-free products. I extend a heartfelt, and honest thanks, to the folks at Hansa Snus in Sweden for making this line, because it’s nice to see some companies still believing in the snus market.

The Moose is a pretty exciting line, with a lot of different flavors such as mint, cherry, and wintergreen. Today, we have their more “traditional” flavor, The Moose Gotland Classic. This snus is a real trooper, too, and one of those you can use day in and day out. It is described as having a “light tobacco flavour combined with bergamot and a touch of smokiness”. So, if you have yet to experience this one, let’s open and can and jump right into it!

With the can open, you can see the portions are pretty good looking. They are technically a white portion, however some moisture has turned the pouches slightly brown. That doesn’t mean it’s not a white portion, however, which we’ll touch on later. Each can weighs 16 grams and contains 20 portions, weighing 0.8 grams each. The nicotine content is 12mg/g, which breaks down to 9.6mg per portion due to that 0.8 gram pouch weight.

Now, let’s get into this review and talk about this snus!

The aroma coming off the can is pretty traditional in nature. The bergamot comes through pretty clearly, along with slight notes of wood, tobacco, and a touch of pepper. Honestly, in the aroma and flavor, this one reminds me a lot of Oden’s No3, which is a snus I really like.

The portions are nice and plump, with a soft mouthfeel. Though slightly brown, they aren’t super moist, so the flavor has a slower development like you want from a white portion. In the flavor department, it’s traditional, but more complex. The bergamot comes through pretty clearly, along with slight hints of smoke and wood.

The tobacco base is earthy, slightly peppery, and serves as a nice undertone to the flavor profile. In the nicotine strength, it feels to be about the regular level, or maybe just a little above. It has a comfortable, steady delivery to it. The flavor also has a solid amount of longevity to it, lasting up to about an hour, on average!

    Snubie’s Final Thoughts

All in all, this is a pretty good snus! It’s a new snus, and no new snus is bad snus, but as this one sits on it’s own it’s pretty solid. It has the traditional snus flavor nailed down quite well, and presents a really good, all day type of flavor profile.

If you enjoy traditional products such as General, Knox, etc, I think you’ll like this one, and the nice twist it has on the flavor profile. So, grab some of the Moose, I think you’ll be quite impressed!

  • The Moose Canadian Cherry Review

    The Moose Canadian Cherry Review

When The Moose brand first launched earlier this year, I was quite excited. Why? Because you don’t see a lot of new snus products launched, but it’s even more rare when you see new snus brands launched! This is a brand made by Hansa Snus in Sweden. The brand actually has a lot of flavors in it, including traditional, wintergreen, mint, and more.

This is one that has a cherry flavor to it. The description actually says “A delicious taste of cherries and hints of violet”. Cherry isn’t a common flavor in the world of snus, so I remember my excitement when I heard the flavor profile on this one. If you’re curious about this intriguing flavor profile, read on, and let’s check it out!

Opening the can, I count 20 portions in there. The can weighs 16 grams, which means each portion is going to weigh in at 0.8 grams each. The nicotine content sits at 12mg/g in total, so with that 0.8 gram option weight it’s 9.6mg per portion. Another note, this one is said to be a white portion, but you’ll notice the portions have a slight brown color to them. This doesn’t mean they’re moist, or original portions, but just that some of the moisture from the tobacco turned the pouch a brown color. That happens from time to time, but it still delivers an experience much like with a white portion.

The aroma that comes off of this one is a pretty nice cherry tone. I do pick up a slight hint of violet, sitting on top of a nice earthy tobacco base. The portions are nice and plump, and feel great in the lip. They’re much like white portions, so they have a gradual release of flavor to them when you put one in. In the flavor profile, it’s quite good. It’s mostly cherry, but with just light hints of violet poking through.

The tobacco base is also there, not overpowering the cherry, but giving it a good backbone. The nicotine strength is also pretty mellow, feeling to be around the regular level. The flavor longevity is pretty solid, lasting a good hour! That’s what I mentioned earlier, that while it may look like an original portion, the flavor experience is much like a white portion in how long it lasts.

    Snubie’s Final Thoughts

This was a pretty tasty snus! It reminds me somewhat of Nick & Johnny Americana, but without the wintergreen or spicy nature to it. It’s more well rounded, and more light in flavor. It’s a pretty interesting snus.

I’ve honestly gone through quite a few cans of it, so I can tell you from personal experience that this is a pretty good snus and one I’d recommend you trying out on your next order!

  • The Moose Arctic Super Strong Review

The Moose Arctic Super Strong Review

Over the past few weeks, I’ve been checking out this new snus series called The Moose. If you haven’t heard of it, The Moose is a snus produced in Sweden by Hansa Snus. In 2024, it’s almost unheard of to see not only new snus manufacturers, new snus products, but also new snus brands. The Moose has all of that! And not only that, but it’s a high quality product. So, for a new manufacturer to start pumping out top-shelf stuff, it’s pretty impressive. I’ve had a lot of other flavors in the Moose series, and I’m pretty partial to their Major Wintergreen flavor. This is their strongest one: Arctic Super Strong.

This is one that’s designed for those who love high octane products like Siberia and the like. But, I think this one is a much better quality than Siberia, personally. It’s described as having “an intense taste of mint”. But there’s more that is intense about this one than the taste. Read on, let’s get into it!

I count 20 portions in the can. The can has a total weight of 14 grams, so that means each portion is going to weigh 0.7 grams each. The nicotine content is a whopping 30mg/g in total. While it may sound high, the 0.6 gram portions actually brings it down a bit to just 21mg/pouch. That may be less than 30, but it’s still quite strong compared to others on the market!

Opening the can, it has a sharp, powerful aroma to it. It’s not as pungent as Siberia, but it’s still stout. There is a sharp, sweet aroma of peppermint that comes through. The portions are pretty soft, and have a nice feel under the lip. They give a sting when you put one in, but also a subtle cooling presence throughout the lip and mouth, as well. In the flavor profile, it’s a pretty icy, sweet taste of peppermint. It’s sharp, and powerful.

I also pick a light tobacco base with this one. I find the flavor to be more enjoyable than Siberia, and to have a higher quality to it. The nicotine kick on this one is pretty strong. At 21mg/portion, to me it feels to be firmly at the extra strong level. So, it’s no lightweight in strength! The flavor lasts quite a while on this one as well, usually up to about an hour.

    Snubie’s Final Thoughts

So, this stuff is way too strong for me. I don’t use a lot of stuff that is this strong, honestly. But, I know really strong mint snus is popular, and a lot of people do like stuff like this. If you like stuff that has a strong kick to it, you may love this one. While it’s too strong for me, I can definitely see folks who like products like Oden’s and Siberia really enjoying this one, due to it’s higher quality!

  • SnusMe visited the world’s largest fair for tobacco products

SnusMe visited the world’s largest fair for tobacco products

Traditional snus with tobacco is still incredibly popular, but tobacco-free snus has exploded in popularity in recent years. This was evident at InterTabac through the number of exhibitors showcasing nicotine pouches and the incredibly large range of products on display. It was also noticeable in the atmosphere, which felt significantly more upscale than usual.

    An upscale atmosphere

“I would probably say that half of all participants at InterTabac are working with nicotine pouches, and that is a very big difference compared to how it was a few years ago. That was the major difference at the fair this year. I also noticed how upscale the exhibitors’ booths were this year. Whereas a booth could previously consist of a few tables with brochures and a banner, you can see that many companies have spent significantly more money on their booths this year,” says Jimmy Ekstedt at SnusMe.

The change that Jimmy talks about is positive for the entire industry. The fact that companies exhibiting at InterTabac choose to invest resources in the fair, focus on marketing, and work on growing their business means they believe in the industry and that there is a target audience interested in their product. We at SnusMe were inspired by the fair and the positive atmosphere of a successful, growing industry.

    Trendspotting at InterTabac

At a fair like this, we at SnusMe gauge the pulse of the industry and discover the latest trends. Additionally, we are always on the lookout for new products and brands to offer you as a customer. We want a selection that feels current and innovative, providing what our customers demand. We brought back many interesting impressions and meetings from InterTabac, but nothing we can reveal at this time.

We took the opportunity to visit some of the brands you can find on SnusMe.com, to say hello and check out what they were showcasing in their booths. Chainpop nicotine pouches is a fun brand with a strong focus on unique flavor combinations. In their booth, they presented flavors like Pomegranate & Melon and Violet & Cactus, which were launched earlier in 2024. We also stopped by Kelly White and FUMI.

    Nicotine pouches from Sweden

Just like Chainpop, Kelly White and FUMI produce products that are completely free from tobacco, and all three brands are run and manufactured by Swedish companies. The culture surrounding traditional snus with tobacco originates from Sweden, and many players in the country have benefited from the long-standing experience available. Nicotine pouches from Sweden are often of very high quality, and this is true for Chainpop, Kelly White, and FUMI.

    New brand

At SnusMe, we have just started selling the new brand VILD nicotine pouches, and we took the opportunity to visit them as well during the fair. We were really impressed with their booth.

This was an example of a company going the extra mile and creating a booth beyond the ordinary. The identity of VILD nicotine pouches is aimed at people who enjoy being in nature, such as hunters, hikers, or outdoor enthusiasts, and this was truly reflected in their booth. In the middle of the space, they had set up a grill area, which was really cool.

    800 exhibitors from 70 countries

At the same time as InterTabac takes place at Messe Dortmund in Germany, the InterSupply fair is also held. These are two parallel fairs under the same roof, where InterTabac showcases the finished products, such as nicotine pouches, snus, and cigarettes.

InterSupply, on the other hand, focuses on the manufacturing process for tobacco products, e-cigarettes, pipes, and hookahs. InterTabac alone gathered 800 exhibitors from 70 countries, all with one thing in common—they enjoy tobacco-related products and want to share their offerings.

  • Odens Wintergreen Extreme Slim White Dry Review

Odens Wintergreen Extreme Slim White Dry Review

I haven’t always been the biggest fan of wintergreen. I had a bad experience with it in when I was 18 (which was the legal age here at the time), when I first tried wintergreen dip. Over the years, it’s been a flavor I’ve generally avoided. But, since I got a farm I’ve found I use it more. I’m not sure why, but for some reason when I’m outdoors, I’ve been enjoying this flavor more and more. Today, we’re checking out one such flavor: Oden’s Wintergreen Extreme Slim White Dry.

Ever since this one launched in 2016, it’s proven to be quite popular. They also have other variants of their “Pure Wintergreen” flavor, including an original portion version (22mg/portion), and a large white dry version (17.6mg/portion). This one isn’t quite as strong, which I’ll talk about shortly. So, if you’re ready to dive into the wintergreen world with me, let’s get into it!

The flavor description for this one says, “a taste of wintergreen”. Opening the can, I counted 20 portions. The can weight in total is 13 grams. That means each pouch is going to weigh 0.65 grams each. The nicotine strength may say “extreme”, and sit at 22mg/g in total, but that pouch weight brings it down quite a bit. 22mg/g actually becomes 14.3mg/portion. So, it may say it’s an “extreme”, in total, but it’s actually just at the strong level in terms of how much nicotine you get per portion.

Opening the can, the aroma that comes through is a pretty direct aroma of wintergreen. It’s milder in nature, but still has good presence. It’s lightly sweet in nature, but not overly sweet. The portions come in the slim white dry format, so they’re going to be a little dryer than you average white portion. They feel comfortable under the upper lip, and have a gradual release of flavor. In the flavor profile, it’s a pretty straightforward, direct flavor of wintergreen.

It’s mild, gently sweet, and has a subtle presence of tobacco in the background. The nicotine strength is also pretty decent. It may sound like a lot up front, but it actually delivers right around the strong mark. So, it feels stronger than your regular strength, but it’s not too much. The flavor lasts quite a while with this one, too. The white dry format yields a slower release and longer lifespan, so you can enjoy these for well over an hour, sometimes up to the 1.5 hour mark!

    Snubie’s Final Thoughts

All in all this was a pretty good product! There aren’t a lot of wintergreen flavors out there, so if you’re into this sort of thing your options are pretty limited. But, this is a pretty good one. If you want one with a milder experience, I think you’re going to be quite satisfied here, especially if you’re looking for one with more kick to it!

  • Odens Vanilla Extreme White Dry Slim Review

Odens Vanilla Extreme White Dry Slim Review

Vanilla is probably one of the most uncommon snus flavors on the market today. The only company that makes a vanilla snus product anymore is GN Tobacco with their Oden’s Vanilla flavor. It comes in quite a few shades, strengths, and formats, but today we have one of the stronger variants on hand: Oden’s Vanilla Extreme White Dry. I first encountered this one back in 2011 when it launched in a smaller market.

Fast forward to 2016, GN Tobacco released it on a larger scale and it’s still around today 8 years later! In the world of snus, if a product lasts that long, that means it must be pretty popular. So, if you’re ready to get acquainted with this snus, let’s get to know it better!

The product description for this one says, easily enough, “a taste of vanilla”. Opening up the can, you’re probably thinking, “wait, I thought this was a white dry product?”. I’ll explain. The vanilla flavor is an interesting one. Whenever you add vanilla flavoring to a product, it can tend to turn the portions brown over time. This isn’t a change in the moisture.

While it may look brown like an original portion, it’s actually still a white dry product. It’s just brown because of the vanilla flavoring. Each can weighs 16 grams, and contains 20 portions. This means the portions weigh in at 0.8 grams each. The nicotine content sits at 22mg/g. With 0.8 gram portions, this means you’ll get 17.6mg of nicotine per portion, putting this one at the extra strong level.

In the aroma of this one, I find it to be a slightly perfumey aroma of vanilla. It’s mild in nature, and lightly sweet. The portions, as mentioned above, come in the white dry format. This means they’re slightly dryer to the touch, and under the lip. They may be stiff at first, but as the pouch gets more moist under the lip, you’ll find it softens up, gets more comfortable, and releases more flavor. The flavor of this one, similar to the aroma is vanilla. It’s a mild, semi-sweet taste of vanilla.

I do notice it to have an almost perfumey aspect to it, as I picked up in the aroma. The nicotine strength on this one is rather strong, feeling at, or above, the extra strong level. It depends on if I’ve eaten recently, but on an empty stomach this one has quite a kick to it! The flavor longevity is also quite impressive, lasting well over an hour due to the white dry format. This is a benefit of white dry snus, you always get a long lasting taste.

    Snubie’s Final Thoughts

If you like vanilla, your options in the world of snus are very, very limited. This is the only one. You can get in other formats and strengths, so it depends on what you’re really looking for as to which one of these you’ll use. It’s hit and miss, some love it, some don’t. It’s really one you have to try for yourself to see what you think.

For me, it’s not bad. It’s not a favorite, but it’s not awful. It’s right there in the middle for me. I don’t really use a lot of vanilla products though, so I suggest checking it out to see what you think of it!

  • Odens Kola Extreme Review

    Odens Kola Extreme Review

I’ve found recently that a lot of people don’t know about this snus. Cola isn’t a super common flavor in the world of snus, but a lot of folks seem to really enjoy Jakobson’s Cola. That one is more common, and more widely discussed, but what if you want something stronger? What if you want something…extremely strong?

Well, today we have Oden’s Kola (Cola) Extreme Original Portion, a snus made by GN Tobacco in Sweden! As a bit of a cola enthusiast, there is nothing better than an ice cold glass of cola and a cola-flavored pouch in your lip. Today, I poured a glass of RC Cola, a favorite of mine, to pair with this refreshing, strong snus! If you’ve never experienced this one, read on, and we’ll check it out!

Much like other Oden’s products, you’ll find this one has a hinged catch lid. So, when you open it to deposit used portions, you’ll notice it stays right there with you! This one has, of course, “a taste of cola”. Each can weighs in at 20 grams, and I counted 20 portions in each can. As such, this means you get full 1 gram portions! The nicotine content, being an “extreme”, is 22mg/g. This puts it just a little above the extra strong scale. With 1 gram portions, it’s easy to calculate at 22mg per portion!

So, pour up a glass, and let’s see what this snus is all about. In the aroma, I pick up a clear aroma of cola, along with a slight hint of cinnamon. The tobacco base comes through clearly, and is dark, rich, and robust. The portions are nice and plump, with a solid moisture amount. They feel great under the lip, and have a quick release of flavor, and nicotine. This stuff tastes really good. Honestly, it’s been a while since I’ve had it, so I figured it would be a fun one to revisit. It has a good cola flavor, but I like that it isn’t mega sweet. It also has a dab of cinnamon flavor to it.

The tobacco base isn’t washed out with the cola flavor, and it comes through in a rich way, with a slight spice to it. It’s a very well rounded flavor! In the nicotine department, you’ll notice this one to have quite a kick to it. It feels around the extra strong level, and delivers pretty quickly. The flavor is also quite a trooper, lasting up to about 40-50 minutes, on average.

    Snubie’s Final Thoughts

If you like Jakobsson’s Cola, but want to try something different, or want something a little stronger, you should check this one out. I think you’ll dig it. It’s a little different, but still has that classic cola taste to it. To me, the cola flavor is just a little more fleshed out, and slightly more complex. I’d definitely recommend checking it out if you’ve never had it, it’s top notch!
